ISAURA (Inspired by Italo Calvino’s “Invisible Cities”)

A vertical watercolor illustration of Isaura, a floating city from Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities, supported by giant green octopuses holding water streams beneath a starry night sky, by Pitupu.

A personal reinterpretation of Calvino’s city of thousand wells. In this dreamlike vision, giant octopuses take the place of the subterranean gods, holding up the floating architecture and channeling the life-giving waters through starry night heights.

Media: Traditional watercolors, ink, and colored pencils on paper.
